Privacy Policy

BdayMate respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app for birthday and important-date reminders.

1. DATA WE COLLECT

 

Data you enter:

  • Events: Names of people, type of event (birthday, name day, anniversary, other), day and month (and year if you provide it)

  • Notes: Gift ideas, things to remember, etc.

  • Reminders: Number of days in advance (on the day, 1 day before, 1 week before, etc.), optional custom reminder message

  • Settings: Notification time for each event

Technically generated data:

  • Identifiers: Unique identifiers (UUID) for each event

  • Timestamps: Creation and modification dates of events

Data we do not collect:

  • No data sent to our servers (we do not operate any)

  • No email address, phone number, or other contact details

  • No location data

  • No user account or connection to third-party services

2. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

 

Your data is used only to:

  • Display and organise your events (birthdays, name days, etc.)

  • Calculate upcoming dates and groupings (this week, this month, etc.)

  • Schedule and display local notifications at the dates and times you choose

  • Save your preferences (notification time, reminders, etc.) on your device

We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural analysis, or selling data.

3. STORAGE AND SECURITY

 

Local storage only:

  • All data is stored only on your device (local database, e.g. SwiftData).

  • Nothing is sent to our servers or any third-party servers.

  • Your data benefits from your device’s usual encryption and security (iOS).

Backups:

  • Your data may be included in iCloud or iTunes/Finder backups if you have enabled them.

  • Those backups are managed and encrypted by Apple according to their own privacy policy.

4. SHARING OF DATA

 

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.

The only exceptions would be:

  • A legal obligation or court order

  • Protecting our legal rights or user safety, within the limits of the law

5. PURCHASES AND THE APP STORE

 

BdayMate does not currently offer any in-app purchases. If purchases (e.g. via the App Store) are added in the future, payments would be handled by Apple; we would not store or process your payment card details.

6. NOTIFICATIONS

 

Local notifications:

  • Reminders (on the day, X days before, etc.) are local notifications: they are created and shown only on your device.

  • There is no notification server and no sending of your data to third parties.

Permission:

  • The app asks for permission to send notifications on first launch (or when you add your first reminder).

  • You can enable or disable notifications at any time in Settings > Notifications > BdayMate.

7. CHILDREN’S DATA

 

BdayMate is not aimed at minors and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and find that a minor’s personal data has been entered in the app, you can delete it by removing the relevant events or uninstalling the app.

8. DELETION OF DATA

 

Deletion by you:

  • You can delete each event directly in the app (e.g. by swiping or from the detail screen).

  • Uninstalling the app from your device removes all data stored locally by BdayMate.

We do not keep any copy of your data after uninstall.

9. YOUR RIGHTS

 

You have the right to:

  • Access the data you have entered (it is all visible in the app)

  • Modify or correct your events and settings

  • Delete your data (event by event or by uninstalling the app)

  • Refuse or disable notifications in iOS settings

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

 

We may update this privacy policy. Significant changes may be announced in the app or on the app’s (App Store) page. Continued use of BdayMate after a new version is published will be taken as acceptance of the updated policy.

11. LEGAL COMPLIANCE

 

This policy is intended to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and applicable data protection laws.

12. DATA RETENTION

​

  • Events and settings are kept on your device until you delete them and for as long as the app is installed.

  • We do not retain your data on our servers.

  • Uninstalling BdayMate removes all local data with the app.

By using BdayMate, you accept the terms of this privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
